  What brought me to Christ many years ago?    In July of 1976, I had the most important life changing experience that one could ever have.   I became a Christian.   I was spiritually born-again.   I invited Christ to be the Lord of my life.    It has been thirty-eight years ago, but I still remember that day and how much my life has changed since that time.   I think that a lot of people that meet me now have little idea how much of a different person than I am.   I have a tattoo on my arm that I got a few months before this experience and that is just a glimpse of the man I once was.        I would like to describe for you in this paper what was going on in my life that would motivate me to come to Jesus.    I would like to give you a little bit of background about my life.   I was raised in a family that went to Church.   I describe the Church as teaching a “Social Gospel”.  ...

The Best Christmas Gift Ever       2001 was one of the worst years of my life for many reasons, but it ended on a good note, a wonderful gift and a few lessons learned.       The year started out with a very big health challenge.   I had gotten off work late and was rushing home to pick up my younger son to take him to a Monster Truck Show at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio.   I had promised to take him and even though I was late getting off of work, I still was trying to get him there and keep that promise.   I picked him up from the house and we headed downtown to the Dome.   The city had built this large football stadium to try and attract an NFL Football team, but so far, it hadn’t happened, and the Dome was just being used for events like this one.   They built this large arena close to the downtown area so that the crowd could do things downtown after the game or event.   One thing bad about the Dome was that it di...

The House of God?    Almost every time you attend Church, some of the very first words that you will hear from the Pastor, or the Worship Leader, or a Greeter, are “Aren’t you glad to be in the House of God today?” This is a very common practice, but is this statement true?   Does God live in the building that you have built?   Is He waiting for you to show up and visit with Him?    You will see from the scriptures below that this statement does not reflect the message of the Bible.   The greeting that better reflects Biblical truth is “Aren’t you glad to BE the House of God today?”   That is the message of this paper.     I have talked to a number of Christians about this subject and they were very surprised to hear what I had to say… and they were very doubtful that their Church leaders were getting the message wrong.   So, maybe at this point, it would be best to ask you to read the following verses from the Bibl...
